NSFW?

Just a quick note about an unusal – for me, at any rate – acronyms.

Recently came across a few articles with the rather strange acronym NSFW?? I was quite stumped for a while – perhaps I have been left behind by the information highway… 🙂 Well, never fear, Wikipedia to the rescue! It turns out that NSFW = Not Safe For Work – not that I have been reading anything unsuitable for work. 😉

(Dis)Honourable list

This is not a list every web site maintainer wants to get onto! For the record, here are the award winners for web pages that suck for 2005. Now, while I hope that I will never have the privilege to be mentioned, it is a great learning resource – as long as you are not at the receiving end… 😉

Which generation

Not too long ago, being in Generation X was hip. Then along came the Generation Y’ers, and shortly, one can imagine, Generation Z?? Have you ever wondered who came up with these groupings or what they actually mean? Well, it seems that these are not some random words made up by journalists or writers. There is actually – albeit rather US-centric for some of them – list of the various “generations” dating back to the 1700s.

So, which generation are you? 🙂

Adding a Google Map to any web page in 30 seconds

Chanced upon this article referenced in a newsletter I subscribe to, which has details on how to add a Google Map to your web site. Pretty cool stuff and yet another wonder courtesy of Web 2.0!

Here is an example with Singapore centred. Place your mouse over the map, hold the left button and start to explore!

Web 2.0 tutorials

Currently in the planning stage for the redesign of some of my sites, so this list of Web 2.0 Design Tutorials will come in very handy.
