Winner of Ukraine's Got Talent 2009

A little something to share before I go on my south-east-Asian escape.

Really fantastic stuff here. Apparently her performance was so moving that she brought judges and the audience to tears.

Another clip of her work. Not from the final but equally brilliant.

Bill Gates speech 2007

You may not like his company Microsoft. Or perhaps you may not even like him as a person – although I dare say most of us who have strong opinions about the man probably has never even met the man before? Here is a quote from his Harvard Commencement speech in 2007 which resonates with me.

“From those to whom much is given, much is expected.”

While I have not been “given” to the scale that Mr Gates has – at least financially – there is still much I can be grateful for, in view of natural disasters we have seen around the world this year.

ps. My thoughts go out to those who recently lost much (family members, homes,… ) due to the flooding in southern Taiwan.

Moving on

Any change, any loss, does not make us victims. Others can shake you, surprise you, disappoint you, but they can’t prevent you from acting, from taking the situation you’re presented with and moving on. No matter where you are in life, no matter what your situation, you can always do something. You always have a choice and the choice can be power.

The tiny pleasures

Most of us miss out on life’s big prizes. The Pulitzer. The Nobel. Oscars. Tonys. Emmys. But we’re all eligible for life’s small pleasures. A pat on the back. A kiss behind the ear. A four-pound bass. A full moon. An empty parking space. A crackling fire. A great meal. A glorious sunset. Hot soup. Cold beer. Don’t fret about copping life’s grand awards. Enjoy its tiny delights. There are plenty for all of us.
